About the Designer

One day in late 2008, it struck me like a thunderbolt—I needed to add passion and purpose to my life as a jewelry designer. For two decades I’d been involved in every step of the jewelry business, from trends analysis and marketing to selecting gemstones, and launching new lines. I was experienced at every level of the industry, including Jewelry Design and Diamonds Grading training, but none of it was enough to sustain my interest.

New Purpose

I discussed this malaise with my life partner, a man I’ve lived with for almost as long as I’ve been making jewelry. As we discussed different options, it became apparent I needed to do more. First, I needed a goal, a purpose.  After 20+ years designing and working for others, it was time to achieve a solo career. And second, I wanted to dive into something completely and totally responsible.  I wanted to create important jewelry

Wedding and engagement rings.  But not just any wedding and engagement rings - for the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community—now that’s a mission I could believe in!

Fashionable, Timeless.

For the past year, my Rony Tennenbaum collections have put zest back into my work in jewelry design. I’ve immersed myself in the vision of gay couples in love wearing these special engagement and wedding rings for the rest of their lives. I made new collections with the latest fashion trends in mind, but I incorporated everything that is timeless and classic about engagement and wedding rings. I wanted my rings to be as fresh, years from now, as they were when couples first popped the question, “Will you marry me?”

Key Beliefs.

Here are the beliefs that drive me and my work. These are the reasons my jewelry is the best choice for you and your partner when you decide to formalize your commitment to one another:

1. Same-sex marriage and complete and unqualified marriage equality is historic, morally and socially just, and everyone’s legal right and privilege. I am a gay jeweler, I make engagement and wedding rings for you and our entire community, I personally support and contribute to marriage equality organizations like White Knot and Freedom to Marry, and together we’re forging new traditions that will galvanize the world and push for complete civil rights.

2. My rings only use EcoGold. I personally guarantee that no new toxins or waste materials will be dumped into the environment in the process of making your rings. I want to empower you and your lover with the knowledge that your rings are contributing to a cleaner world.

3. All Rony Tennenbaum jewelry is Made in the USA. Locally-made jewelry is unprecedented these days and what better way to stimulate our economy that to creates important jobs here at home.
